Seville metro area is the main economic and service hub in Southern Spain, with more than 1.3 million inhabitants, 62% in the central city. With 2 million visitors a year, Seville is a main international tourist destination. Seville is an unique urban experience where the renowned Southern Spain quality of living combine with a World level urban economy.
There are 450.000 employees in the metro area, 72% in the central city, 77% working in the services sector.
Some relevant clusters in the city are: new agro-food complex, aeronautical & aerospace industry, logistics, intermediate and final chemical products, engineering and advanced services, and tourism and TIME industries.
Therefore, IC is a key economic sector in Andalusia. The sector contributes with the 5.7% to the regional GDP. Seville is the most important city in the region in the field of CI.
The sector is highly scattered across all the territory. In particular, the area of Alameda de Hércules is one of the most representative creative areas in the City. This area constitutes an innate Creative-Cultural District since the XIX century.
Both the City Council and the Regional Administration support the sector with several initiatives such as Proyecto Lunar (www.proyectolunar.com), a comprehensive initiative mainly related to the promotion of new SMEs start-ups in the CI sector, or Naves Singer, a project financed and managed by the City Council.

 

Sevilla Global


Sevilla Global is an Urban Agency for Economic Development established as a shareholding company by the City Council from the city of Sevilla in the second half of 2000. This answers the old request from local actors of having a permanent office in charge of the economic planning inside the metropolitan area.
Its aim is to design and develop new strategies focused on the articulation of Sevilla and the metropolitan area within the regional, national and international city network. Its main customers are private businesses, especially Small and Medium Enterprises [SMEs], to which SEVILLA GLOBAL plans to provide with a vast array of services.
Broadly speaking, the different kind of activities in which SEVILLA GLOBAL is going to be involved can be summarised as it follows:

-  Support of new enterprises, especially those technology-intensive, through innovative financing tools, such as venture capital and financial system agreements.
 -  Evaluation and research in the impact of telecom technologies over the city economic structure.
 -  Support tools for modernization of the productive economy through the acquisition of new information and telecom technologies.
 -  Infrastructure improvement  and new industrial spaces.
 -  City marketing in the international field.
 -  Cluster development of the main business systems in the urban area.
